HYT'S SOLUTION
SIMPLE, SUSTAINABLE AND APPROPRIATE!

An interlocking and cured compressed soil block
- the Interlocking Stabilised Soil Block [ISSB] technology compresses a moistened mixture of subsoil and a small amount of cement in a mould, that produces oblong, interlocking building blocks which are cured not fired
- a second block makes curved blocks, ideal for water storage tanks

What are the advantages of the ISSB block?
It is both simple and sustainable!

- since the blocks are cured, rather than fired, no firewood is used and no trees are chopped down
- biodiversity and ancient forests are preserved and C02 emission drastically reduced
- the interlocking feature of the technology means the blocks are stronger, easier, cheaper and quicker to construct with
- the blocks are made on site, requiring no transport and much less mortar between courses than a clay brick
- the simplicity of this technology and its low costs mean that community participation and income-generating opportunities are possible
